    Your link opens a guided selfie on their phone: six quick questions, a framing guide, one photo in daylight. About two minutes.

  2. They leave their details for the report

    Name, email and mobile come before the result. Every finished scan is a lead with a reason to call.

  3. They read a plan and book with you

    A personal report in your clinic's name: what stood out, where on the face, and the treatments from your menu worth discussing. Every Book button is your diary.

Capture that earns the read

The camera tracks the face live and only unlocks once it has been framed, level, lit and still for over half a second. It then takes a six-frame burst and keeps the sharpest. Blurred, dark, clipped or unevenly lit photos are sent back for another go, not scored badly.

Measured in colour science, not pixels

Every zone is analysed in CIELAB, the colour space used in dermatology research, with the lighting falloff across the face corrected first. Redness is a* excess over nearby skin, under-eye colour is a ΔE2000 difference against the cheek beside it, lines are found with a ridge filter, and each fold is traced along its own path at 28 cross-sections.

Bands and confidence, in that order

Low, mild, moderate or strong, with a confidence that drops for soft focus, glare, uneven light or makeup. A reading the engine is unsure of says so on the report instead of pretending.

The AI writes. It never measures.

The report copy is drafted by a language model from the bands and zones alone. It never sees a number it can round up, never names a condition, a score or a skin age, and can only mention treatments your rules selected. Your clinic can edit every word before it goes out.

Questions

Before you ask

Do my patients need to download anything?
No. The scan runs in the phone's browser from your link. It works on iPhone and Android, with no account and no app.
Is it a medical device?
No. SKNscan describes the visible appearance of skin in a photograph and uses band words, never a score or a diagnosis. Every report says a practitioner confirms it in person. It is a conversation starter for a consultation, not an assessment.
What happens to the photos?
They are stored on servers in the UK, used only to produce that person's report, and deleted on request from a link on the report. Consent is recorded per purpose before the camera opens. Our privacy policy sets it out in full.
Can it recommend treatments I don't offer?
No. The report can only name treatments you have switched on, and only when a rule you can see and edit says the reading is strong enough. Under 25s are never offered an injectable by name.
How accurate is it?
It is as good as the photo. In daylight, bare-faced, with the phone at eye level, the readings are consistent and the clinic agrees with them in the room. A soft or side-lit selfie reads less, and the report says so rather than overstate it.
What if I run out of scans?
Your scan link pauses until the month resets or you move up a plan. You will see a warning in your dashboard well before that.
